Review: They Call Me Death by Missy Jane
Four years ago Alexia Williams’ life was turned upside down with the revelation that shifters lived among the humans. Shortly thereafter her husband and toddler son where killed by shifters. Now she works for the military of the Combined Human States, patrolling the wall that separates CHS from the Federal Nation of Therianthropes, FNT. While humans are allowed in shifter land, no shifters are ever allowed into CHS. So why does, Alexia, a legend among the shifters for the number of them she has killed, hesitate this night when approached by a shifter after her night shift?
Andor Olavson, a golden eagle shifter, has studied Alexia for an assignment from FNT. Now he decides to bring Alexia in on some shifter secrets and also asks for her help in finding missing shifters, as the trail leads him to believe they are imprisoned in human hands.
The danger grows as Alexia learns to trust Andor and helps him track down the missing shifters. She finds that they aren’t as different from humans as she believed and that the world is never just black and white.
I sincerely hope Ms. Jane writes more stories in this world of shifters. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The story kept moving and peppered into it were some good plot surprises. Alexia’s personal journal is heartbreaking and hopeful. And Andor is one part mentor, two parts lover to her. Yet he is making himself vulnerable to gain her trust and her heart. The bond between them starts out small and weak but as they are tested it stretches and grows stronger with each trial.
Enjoy.

Julie & Chris, thank you!
i just wanted to say thanks for publishing such fine books, its a great story etc. rly love shapeshifters etc. hope we can some books for exempel: an heroine shapeshifter with diffrent kind of morals then normal humans. its getting a tad boring with shapeshifters/vampires/fey etc behaving like “we” think etc, im sure there is diffrent versions they could rationalise(i cant spell the word, hope u get my mening anyhow) in. thanks in advance for future coming books aswell.
Ano, thanks for the feedback! Your comment is definitely something to think about. I do try to step into the minds of my characters when writing, but it’s good to know you think characters rationalize like humans too often. I’ll keep that in mind as I write the next one. THANKS!
