Review: Lycan Tides by Renee Wildes (Guardians of the Light, Book 3)
Finora is a selkie whose skin was stolen and is now lost to her after her human husband died at sea, taking the location of it with him to the grave. But she is left with two precious gifts from this man in the form of her children.
Trystan is a wolf shifter Guardian, on a quest for a dragon Guardian. A quest that takes him far from the mountains of his home across the sea.
They come together after a storm wrecks the ship that Trystan is traveling on and Finora, a the lighthouse mistress, is part of the rescue party that helps the men from the ship. When she realizes that he, too, is a shifter she takes him into her home to keep his secret and protect him from the village.
But danger lurks close by as the dragon Trystan is searching for and an enemy of Finora’s family strike a pact to tear this newly bonding family apart.
This is truly a tale of people from two different worlds. A sea creature and an earth creature, but love helps them find a way to make it work.
While I enjoyed this story, when compared with the previous two books in the series, there was something intangible that I felt was missing. Somehow, while I couldn’t put the book down, I was reading to find out what happens at the end versus reading because I was engrossed by the journey the characters were on.
Still I highly recommend this book and the whole series. I look forward to future works by Ms. Wildes as she doesn’t disappoint.
Enjoy.
