Catching Up with Marianne LaCroix
EC: Hi Marianne. We just wanted to catch up with you. What’s new in your life these days?
ML: Thanks for catching up with me.
I’m writing up a storm. I wish I wrote faster though. LOL! The kids are back in school, so it is easier to write each day. I finished a novel this summer, Crossed Swords, for Ellora’s Cave, and a novella, Stolen by the Sheikh, for Red Rose Publishing. I’m also working at Red Rose as the webmistress and as a cover artist.
Right now I am working on getting a partial together to send to NY. I think it is past time I actually try. I admit I have fears. Before my time was limited as I have little kids about, but now they are in school and I am home alone for a few hours every day.
EC: What’s coming out next from you?
ML: On September 23rd I have a historical novella coming out at Red Rose Publishing called Stolen by the Sheikh. Here’s a blurb for it:
Morocco, 1912
Lady Christine Langtry travels to Morocco after receiving a desperate message from her husband. En route Christine receives horrible news—her husband was murdered. Then while in Casablanca she is stolen right off the street by a dark, handsome desert lord, Sheikh Zafar bin Hassan. Christine succumbs to his touch, surrendering her body to his possessive kisses and commanding caresses. Then Christine discovers the shocking truth—her husband had traded her away to the sheikh!
Then I have Seductions, a paperback collection of 4 stories, coming out any day now from loveyoudivine. The collection includes My Enemy, My Lover, Her Masked Lover, Brazen & Burning, and Ulysses & the Lotus Eaters. These titles were available as individual e-books, but have been combined into print. I will be signing Seductions at the Georgia RWA Moonlight & Magnolias conference in late September. I will also be signing Dreams of the Oasis III (Ellora’s Cave) at the signing.
In Nov/Dec I have a novel coming from Ellora’s Cave, Crossed Swords. It is a historical pirate adventure and a part of their Torrid Tarot series for 2007. I am awaiting my release date on this. Here’s a teaser blurb for Crossed Swords:
Caribbean Sea, 1718
Arabella Prescott’s dreams of marriage were shattered when her fiancé was murdered by pirates. When she is kidnapped by the roguishly handsome Captain Fredrick Thorne, Arabella is determined to fight him with every inch of her being. She will not become the pirate’s lover—no matter her body’s unexpected desires.
Fredrick quickly discovers Arabella’s weakness—him. Her feisty spirit amuses and her sweet innocence enflames, and when she resists his seductive touch, he forces her to surrender to his desires, awakening her sleeping passions. But with her sensual defeat comes a price neither are prepared to pay.
At the news of her kidnapping, Arabella’s father, Governor Prescott, begins the hunt for Thorne’s ship, Neptune’s Sword, to save Arabella—and finally capture the most dangerous pirate upon the Caribbean. He will stop at nothing to see Thorne pay for his crimes at the end of the hangman’s rope.
EC: Do you have any upcoming projects in the works that you can tell us about or are you taking a breather?
ML: No rest for me, especially now that the kids are back in school. (Yay!) I am working on a partial to send to NY and am starting to look for an agent. I have several novel ideas that need fleshing out. Later this month, I am going on a writer retreat with my crit partner, Sloan McBride (Highland Stone, NCP). We expect to get a lot of brainstorming done on a few projects while there—including some writing time away from home.
My present project is a historical pirate novel that I want to present to NY. After that I wanted to work on an IR western. It is a project I’m writing with Samara King. I also want to try my hand at an Exotika for EC.
I took my vacation earlier in the summer when we went to Disney World and Medieval Times. Of course, I worked on Crossed Swords, but I don’t think any author can truly walk away from their writing. I know I pretty much work everyday, including weekends. I always take time to be with my family, but when the house is quiet, I work.
EC: How can readers get in touch with you?
