The victim of abuse, Lillian Baxter has moved to a small town in New York to start all over. Buying a Victorian house, she has converted it into a bookstore called Lillian’s Love. She now has several close, warm friends and her store is taking off. She is having a signing for a wonderful author and all the tickets to the night have been sold. When her best friend, Carla, calls and asks if her brother can come, she reluctantly agrees. She met Detective Michael Fields before and found him to be arrogant and conceited. When Michael shows up, she finds nothing to change her opinion but Michael finds a lot about Lillian to like. In fact, he can’t believe he never noticed her before. Trying to convince Lillian to change her opinion of him will be difficult but Lillian does feel the same sense of attraction that Michael does and can’t resist giving him another chance. When disturbing things begin to happen to Lillian, Michael knows he will do anything to protect her, even changing his work habits. He had been a bit of a daredevil, willing to take all the tough undercover assignments. One assignment had resulted in his getting shot. Now with two detectives arriving from New Jersey, sure that the murders they are investigating are related to Lillian, Michael realizes that he must change to have Lillian in his life, but first he must find the man whose obsession could result in her death.

Laura Marie Henion creates memorable and strong characters. Michael and Lillian are two excellent examples. Suffering so much in her short life, Lillian had found the means to carry on and build a new successful life. Now all that was threatened. She fought her attraction to Michael but he was the one man who could help her. Michael was a man who never stayed with a woman for long but Lillian was different and he had to make sure she stayed in his life. Twists and turns, passion and intrigue are all part of Lillian’s Love. Laura Marie Henion has penned another novel guaranteed to grab our interest and keep us guessing until the very end.
