Review, What Happens in Vegas… by Dayne Gearner
Imagine a responsible small town sheriff waking up with the monster of all hangovers, next to a naked man in a Vegas hotel room. Leaving the scene of the crime, Sheryl Garland flies back to Grant, Texas to resume her duties of Sheriff. One month later A.J. Sutter storms into her office; he wants to know why she abandoned him and hasn’t been in contact. To say she is concerned is putting it mildly, but it isn’t until A.J. shows her the marriage license and Sheryl’s mother shows up with news of a wedding reception that Sheryl really becomes alarmed.
What Happens in Vegas is a cute twist on an often used storyline. Sheryl and A.J. is a perfectly matched couple regardless of their beginnings. Sheryl needs only to stop worrying long enough to see the prize in front of her eyes, while A.J is well aware that he intends to hold on to Sheryl for all he’s worth. His patience and understanding are admirable traits, making me wish he could give lessons to other heroes. Sheryl is a woman who is all about responsibility and is self absorbed with her own misery for a tad too long. Just as she was starting to annoy, A.J. would jump in and save the scene once again. For a fun and frivolous break to the workday, Dayne Gearner has penned a very pleasing love story.
